Mauer was founded in 1864 in Germany and was a family-held business until about 2000, when it was sold to KABA.

KABA is a contraction of Kassa Bauer (Bauer Safe), which began in Germany about 1862.

Thios is probably the most common safe lock in use on all typescof safe in the world today. They have been fitted and retrofitted to various makes of safe over that past 15 years or so.
